Questions? You’re not alone. Here are some that come up often.

About Kleer Blue Water

What is Kleer Blue Water?

Kleer Blue Water is a consumer water testing company designed to help homeowners better understand the water flowing through their homes.

Customers collect a water sample at home using a Kleer Blue Water™️ kit and return it to the laboratory for analysis. Some kits may also include simple at-home testing steps, such as a test strip, that are completed as part of the collection process.

Once testing is complete, results are organized in a Personalized Dashboard designed to make water information clearer, calmer, and easier to understand.

Rather than giving customers a technical laboratory report alone, Kleer Blue Water™️ helps organize results into clear categories, educational explanations, analyte cards, and approachable tools so customers can better understand what was tested, how their results compare to reference values, and how different water characteristics may relate to drinking water, taste, smell, plumbing, or household appliances.

How is Kleer Blue Water different from at-home test strips?

At-home test strips can be useful for quick, simple checks, but they are usually limited in what they measure and how much context they provide.

Kleer Blue Water™️ is designed for a deeper look. You collect your sample at home, send it to a professional laboratory for analysis, and receive your results in a Personalized Dashboard that helps explain what was tested, how your results compare to reference values, and what the findings may mean for your home.

It is a more complete, guided way to understand your water.

Is Kleer Blue Water a laboratory?

Kleer Blue Water™️ is a water-testing service that brings together at-home sample collection, professional laboratory analysis, and easy-to-understand digital results.

Most testing is performed by independent laboratory partners. Some kits may also include simple at-home testing steps, such as a test strip, that are completed as part of the collection process.

Your results are then organized in a Personalized Dashboard designed to make the information clearer and easier to understand.

Who performs the testing?

Most testing is performed by qualified independent laboratory partners. Some kits may also include simple at-home testing steps that are completed during sample collection.

Your kit instructions and Personalized Dashboard will guide you through the parts of the process that apply to your specific kit.

What kinds of substances does Kleer Blue Water test for?

Kleer Blue Water™️ tests for a range of substances and water characteristics that can help you better understand what is flowing through your home.

Depending on the kit you choose, testing may include metals, minerals, inorganic compounds, physical water characteristics, volatile organic compounds, and certain bacteria for well-water kits.

Some results relate more closely to drinking water. Others may help explain taste, smell, staining, scaling, plumbing, or appliance concerns.

Each product page clearly shows what is included before you order.

Does Kleer Blue Water™️ test for PFAS or forever chemicals?

PFAS testing is not included in our current standard kits. We know PFAS is an important topic for many households, and we are continuing to evaluate additional testing options as Kleer Blue Water grows.

Are your labs certified or accredited?

Kleer Blue Water™️ works with qualified independent laboratory partners that use established EPA and industry-standard water-testing methods.

Laboratory accreditation can vary depending on the substance being tested, the method used, and the type of sample being analyzed. This means not every tested substance is necessarily covered by the same accreditation scope.

Testing details may vary by kit and by the substances being analyzed. Additional laboratory or accreditation information may be available upon request.

Are these tests intended for regulatory or compliance purposes?

No. Kleer Blue Water™️ testing is designed for personal, informational, and educational use.

Your results are meant to help you better understand your water. They are not intended for regulatory, legal, compliance, lender, insurance, or official real-estate determinations.

Can I use my results for real estate transactions or landlord requirements?

Kleer Blue Water™️ reports are designed for personal, informational, and educational use.

You may choose to share your report with a real estate professional, landlord, property manager, plumber, or other qualified professional. However, Kleer Blue Water™️ reports are not intended to satisfy legal, regulatory, lender, insurance, landlord/tenant, or official real-estate requirements.

Why are there different water testing kits?

Every home is a little different.

City water and well water can involve different testing considerations. Some customers want a clear starting point, while others want a broader view based on their home, plumbing, location, or personal concerns.

Kleer Blue Water™️ offers different kit options so you can choose the level of testing that feels right for your home.

What is the difference between City Water and Well Water kits?

City Water kits are designed for homes connected to a municipal water supply.

Well Water kits are designed for homes that use a private well. Because private wells are not managed through a municipal water system, they can involve different testing considerations, including certain sample-handling steps and bacteria testing.

Both kit types are designed to give you a clearer, more organized view of the water flowing through your home.

What is the difference between Core, Complete, and Comprehensive kits?

Our kits are designed to meet you where you are.

Core gives you a clear starting point for understanding your water.

Complete goes deeper, with broader testing across more water-quality categories.

Comprehensive offers our most complete view, for customers who want the fullest picture of what is flowing through their home.

Each product page shows exactly what is included, so you can choose the kit that feels right for your home.

Is there a quiz that helps me choose the right kit?

Yes. The Kleer Blue Water™️ Water Quiz is designed to help guide you toward the kit that best fits your home, water source, and testing goals.

It is a simple way to start if you are not sure which option is right for you.

Ordering & Shipping

Where does Kleer Blue Water™️ ship?

Kleer Blue Water™️ currently ships within the continental United States.

At this time, we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

What’s included in the kit?

Each Kleer Blue Water™️ kit includes the materials needed to collect and return your water sample, along with access to your Personalized Dashboard once testing is complete.

Depending on the kit you choose, your box may include sample bottles, step-by-step instructions, labels, return-shipping materials, protective packaging, and simple at-home testing materials specific to your kit.

Everything is designed to help make the experience feel clear, organized, and manageable — from collecting your sample to understanding your results.

How long does it take for me to receive my water testing kit?

Delivery timing may vary depending on your location, carrier schedules, weather, seasonal volume, and other shipping factors outside of Kleer Blue Water’s control.

Once your kit arrives, the included instructions will guide you through when and how to collect and return your sample.

Can I send a kit as a gift?

Yes. A Kleer Blue Water™️ kit can be sent to a family member, friend, or homeowner.

The person collecting the sample should follow the included instructions and register the kit so their results are connected to the correct Personalized Dashboard account.

Can I use a kit at a vacation home or second property?

Yes. Kleer Blue Water™️ kits can be used at vacation homes, rental properties, cabins, second residences, or other properties you want to better understand.

You can also test water from multiple locations by using a separate kit for each property or sampling location.

Each sample should be collected from the specific location you want tested, and each kit should be registered with the correct property details so your results are tied to the right home.

Can landlords or property managers order multiple kits?

Yes. Kleer Blue Water™️ can support customers who want to test water at more than one property or sampling location.

If you are a landlord, property manager, real estate professional, or organization interested in multiple kits, please contact Customer Support. We’ll help you choose the right options and make the ordering process as simple as possible.

Do kits expire?

For the best experience, please collect and send your sample within 90 days of receiving your kit.

If more than 90 days have passed, contact Customer Support before collecting your sample. We can help confirm that your kit instructions, sample materials, and shipping process are still current.

Can I order replacement sample bottles or materials?

If something in your kit arrives damaged, missing, or does not look right, please contact Customer Support within 60 days of delivery and before collecting your sample.

Depending on the situation, we may replace a missing component, send a replacement kit, or help determine the best next step.

Collecting & Returning Samples

Is collecting the sample difficult?

No. Kleer Blue Water™️ kits are designed for everyday homeowners and do not require plumbing experience, scientific knowledge, or special tools.

The included instructions walk you through the process step by step, so you know what to collect, where to collect it, and how to send it back.

How long does sample collection take?

For most kits, sample collection only takes a few minutes.

The exact steps may vary depending on the kit you choose, so be sure to follow the instructions included with your specific kit.

Are there instructions included in the kit?

Yes. Each kit includes step-by-step instructions that explain how to collect, package, and return your sample.

The instructions are specific to your kit, so please read them before collecting your water.

Do I need tools or plumbing experience?

No. Kleer Blue Water™️ kits are designed to be used without tools, installation, or plumbing experience.

You simply follow the instructions included with your kit and collect the sample from the location you want tested.

Can I test filtered water or refrigerator water?

Yes. You can collect a sample from filtered water, refrigerator water, or another household water source if that is the water you want to better understand.

Your results will reflect the sample you collect. If you want to understand the water before it passes through a filter, be sure to collect from a location that is not filtered or remove the filter according to your fixture or appliance instructions before collecting.

Choose the location that best matches your testing goal, and follow the instructions included with your kit.

Do I need to collect the sample at a specific time?

Some kits include specific timing instructions based on the type of testing being performed.

Please read your kit instructions before collecting your sample so you know when to collect, how to package it, and when to send it back.

What is the difference between First Draw and Fully Flushed samples?

Some kits may ask you to collect water in more than one way.

A First Draw sample is collected after the water has been sitting in the plumbing for a period of time.

A Fully Flushed sample is collected after the water has been running for at least 5 minutes. This helps sample the water coming into your home, rather than water that has been sitting in the household plumbing.

These collection methods help provide different views of the water at the sampling location. For example, one sample may help reflect water after contact with household plumbing, while the other may help reflect water entering the home after the line has been flushed.

Your kit instructions will tell you exactly which method to use for each bottle.

What if I make a mistake while collecting the sample?

If something does not go as planned during collection, please contact Customer Support before sending your sample back whenever possible.

We can help you determine whether the sample can still be submitted, whether a new collection is needed, or whether replacement materials may be appropriate.

How soon do I need to ship the sample back?

Some water samples are time-sensitive, so it is important to follow the return-shipping timing listed in your kit instructions.

For the best experience, collect your sample only when you are ready to package it and send it back within the required timeframe.

Why shouldn’t I use a FedEx drop box?

Please take your return package to a staffed FedEx location.

A staffed counter can help print your return shipping label and make sure your package is accepted into the FedEx system. Drop boxes should not be used because they do not provide the same label-printing and acceptance process.

Can I collect the sample on the weekend?

No. Samples should be collected and shipped Monday through Thursday only.

Some samples are time-sensitive once collected, and the laboratory does not process samples over the weekend. For the best experience, collect your sample only when you are ready to package it and take it to a staffed FedEx location the same day.

What happens if my sample is delayed in shipping?

If your sample is delayed in transit, Kleer Blue Water™️ will review the situation and help determine the next step.

Depending on the sample, timing, and testing requirements, the laboratory may still be able to process it, or the sample may need to be recollected. If the sample is delayed, compromised, or unable to be processed, Support can help guide you through your options.

What happens if my kit arrives damaged?

If your kit arrives damaged, incomplete, or does not look right, please contact Customer Support within 60 days of delivery and before collecting your sample.

Depending on the situation, we may replace a missing component, send a replacement kit, or help determine the best next step.

Understanding Your Results

How long does it take to receive results?

Result timing may vary by kit and by the testing being performed.

Most results are available within 5 to 7 business days after the laboratory receives and accepts your sample for testing. Some well-water kits include laboratory-confirmed bacteria analysis, which may take longer.

Your Personalized Dashboard will show updates as your sample moves through the testing process, and we’ll email you when your results are ready.

How will I know when my results are ready?

We’ll email you when your results are ready to view.

You can also check your Kleer Blue Water Personalized Dashboard for updates as your sample moves through the testing process.

Where do I view my results?

Your results are available in your Personalized Dashboard.

The Dashboard is designed to organize your water information in a clear, calm, and easy-to-understand format. You can review your results, explore educational explanations, compare findings to reference values, and better understand what your results may mean for your home.

Can I download or print my report?

Yes. You can download, print, or share your report from your Personalized Dashboard.

Many customers save their reports for future reference, comparison over time, or to share with a plumber, contractor, real estate professional, or other qualified professional.

How are results organized?

Your results are organized into clear categories, including Drinking Water, Taste & Smell, and Plumbing & Appliances.

These categories are designed to help you understand the different ways water may relate to your home — from drinking-water considerations to taste, odor, plumbing, and appliance concerns.

Why are results grouped into different categories?

Water can affect a home in different ways.

Some results relate more closely to drinking water. Others may help explain taste, smell, plumbing, or appliance concerns.

Grouping results into categories helps make your Personalized Dashboard easier to review, so you can focus on the information that matters most to you.

How do I interpret my results?

Your Personalized Dashboard is designed to guide you through your results step by step.

You’ll see your results organized by category, with clear explanations to help you understand what was tested and how each result compares to the reference value used in your report.

For a deeper view, you can open the individual analyte cards to learn more about each substance or water characteristic. You can also use the AI Water Quality Assistant to ask questions about your results, Personalized Dashboard language, and testing information.

Your report is designed to help you better understand your water, not to make medical, legal, or regulatory decisions.

What does it mean if a result is above a reference value?

Some results may appear above the reference value used in your report.

When that happens, your Personalized Dashboard will help explain what was measured, which reference value was used, and why that result may be helpful to pay attention to.

Some reference values relate more closely to drinking-water considerations. Others may relate to taste, smell, plumbing, or appliance concerns.

Does Kleer Blue Water™️ tell me whether my water is safe?

Kleer Blue Water™️ helps you better understand the sample you collected and how your results compare to the reference values used in your report.

We do not make medical, legal, or regulatory determinations about your water. Instead, your Personalized Dashboard gives you clear information, helpful context, and tools to explore your results in more detail.

What reference values does Kleer Blue Water™️ use?

Most Kleer Blue Water™️ reference values are based on EPA drinking-water standards, health advisories, or other EPA water-quality guidance.

Some results may also use other established water-quality references when an EPA value is not available or when the result relates more to taste, smell, plumbing, or appliance concerns.

Your report will show the reference value used for each result, so you can see how your water compares.

What is the difference between drinking-water and non-drinking-water reference values?

Some reference values are used because they relate more closely to drinking-water considerations.

Others are used because they help explain water characteristics that may affect taste, smell, staining, scaling, plumbing, or appliances.

Your Personalized Dashboard helps separate these types of results so you can better understand what each finding may mean for your home.

Why might my results differ from my city’s annual water report?

Your city’s annual water report generally reflects water quality across the broader municipal water system.

Your Kleer Blue Water™️ results reflect the specific sample collected from your home. Water can change as it travels through local pipes, household plumbing, fixtures, or filtration systems before reaching the faucet you tested.

That is one reason many customers choose to test their own water: to better understand what is flowing through their specific home.

Can water results change over time?

Yes. Water can change over time due to factors such as plumbing conditions, municipal-system changes, seasonal changes, weather, nearby land use, filtration systems, or changes within the home.

Testing gives you a clearer view of the sample collected at that point in time.

Are my results a permanent representation of my water?

No. Your results reflect the specific sample collected from a specific location at a specific point in time.

They can be helpful for understanding your water, creating a baseline, or comparing results if you test again in the future.

What if I have questions about a specific result?

Your Personalized Dashboard includes additional information to help you better understand each result.

You can open the analyte card for a deeper explanation, use the Water Quality Assistant to ask questions about your results, or contact Customer Support if you need help navigating your report.

Water Quality & Testing Education

Why test water if it looks clear?

Clear water does not always tell the full story.

Many substances and water characteristics cannot be seen, tasted, or smelled. Testing can help you better understand what is flowing through your home, create a baseline for future comparison, and learn more about water characteristics that may relate to drinking water, taste, smell, plumbing, or appliances.

Why can’t I rely on taste or smell alone?

Taste and smell can tell you when something seems different, but they cannot tell you what is actually in your water.

Testing helps move beyond guesswork by giving you measured results from the sample you collect.

How often should I test my water?

Testing frequency depends on your home, water source, and goals.

Some customers test to create a baseline, then test again after plumbing changes, filter updates, moving into a new home, or noticing a change in taste, smell, or appearance.

Others choose to retest when something meaningful changes in the household, such as welcoming a new baby, having an older parent move in, or simply wanting updated information about the water their family uses every day.

Private well owners may choose to test more regularly because well water can change over time. Weather, seasonal groundwater changes, nearby land use, flooding, drought, construction, and changes around the well or property can all affect what is flowing into the home.

For many customers, testing is not just a one-time check. It can be a helpful way to understand changes over time and compare new results to a previous baseline.

Is water testing useful for renters?

Yes. Renters may not own the building, but they still use the water coming from their faucet every day.

Testing can help you better understand the water in your apartment, condo, rental home, or shared building. This can be especially helpful if you have recently moved in, live in an older building, use a filter, notice changes in taste or smell, or simply want a clearer picture of the water you use at home.

Your results reflect the specific faucet you tested and can give you information to keep for your own records or share with a landlord, property manager, plumber, or other qualified professional if you choose.

Is water testing useful after moving into a new home?

Yes. Moving into a new home is a common time to test your water.

Testing can help you create a baseline for the specific home, plumbing, faucet, and water source you are now using. It can also give you information to keep for future comparison if your water changes over time.

Should I test after installing a filter?

Many customers choose to test before and after installing a filter so they can better understand how their water changes.

Testing before installation gives you a baseline. Testing afterward can help you compare the water before and after it passes through the filter.

Filters are not all designed to address the same substances or water characteristics. Testing can help you better understand what may be changing — and what may still be present — after filtration.

Why do well owners often test more regularly?

Private wells can change over time because they are connected to the groundwater and conditions around the property.

Weather, seasonal groundwater changes, flooding, drought, nearby land use, construction, well maintenance, and changes around the well can all affect what is flowing into the home.

That is why many well owners choose to test periodically, compare results over time, and keep a clearer record of changes in their water.

Can plumbing affect water quality?

Yes. The water that reaches your faucet can be influenced by the plumbing and systems inside your home.

Pipes, fixtures, water heaters, and filtration systems may affect certain water characteristics, including metals, minerals, taste, smell, staining, scaling, or sediment. In some homes, water that has been sitting in the plumbing may look different from water collected after the line has been fully flushed.

Testing can help you better understand the water from the specific faucet you sampled and give you more context about how your home’s plumbing may be influencing what comes out of that faucet.

Does city water change over time?

Yes. City water can change over time before it reaches your faucet.

Municipal water systems may adjust treatment processes, perform infrastructure work, or experience seasonal changes that affect water characteristics. Water can also change as it moves through local distribution pipes, service lines, household plumbing, fixtures, water heaters, or filtration systems.

Your city’s annual water report can provide helpful information about the broader municipal system. Testing your own water can give you a more specific view of the sample collected from your home, at the faucet you use every day.

Can weather or seasons affect well water?

Yes. Weather and seasonal changes can affect private well water.

Rainfall, snowmelt, drought, flooding, and changing groundwater levels may influence what enters the well and flows into the home. Conditions can also shift throughout the year, which is one reason well owners may choose to test periodically instead of relying on a single result forever.

Testing can help you better understand the sample collected at that point in time and compare changes if you test again later.

Is testing useful even if nothing seems wrong?

Yes. Many customers test their water even when nothing seems wrong.

Testing can help you create a baseline, better understand the water flowing through your home, and compare results if something changes later. Some customers test after moving, remodeling, installing a filter, welcoming someone new into the household, or simply wanting more information about the water their family uses every day.

Water is part of daily life at home — from drinking and cooking to bathing, cleaning, plumbing, and appliances. Testing can give you a clearer picture of the water that touches so many parts of your home and routine.

Testing is not only about reacting to a problem. It can also be a way to become more informed about your home and the people who live there.

Dashboard & AI Assistant

What is the Kleer Blue Water™️ Personalized Dashboard?
